“I can’t afford to buy a whole new set of clothes,” said Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.), who said she’s using her pants — or, more often, skirts — as a reminder to eat healthfully.
Hayworth, an ophthalmologist from Bedford in Westchester County, earned $205,639 in 2009 working for Cline Davis & Mann LLC, a health care advertising agency, according to her financial disclosure statement. Hayworth earns $31,639 less than that as a member of Congress, but she’ll continue receiving unearned income from the large investment portfolio she owns with her husband, Scott Hayworth. The congresswoman’s financial disclosure statement shows the couple has assets valued between $9.5 million and $23.3 million.
